I am an artist, designer, educator, and the founder of Coloring Rainbows. I strive for my work to inspire creativity through art, education and mindful practices. My work bridges fine art and design with creative play, combining traditional techniques with thoughtful practices to help new and returning artists grow in confidence and creative abilities.
Working primarily in watercolor, ink, graphite and charcoal, I create artwork that celebrates expressive landscapes, florals, and nature-inspired subjects. I also enjoy exploring neurographical art and the elegant brushwork of traditional Japanese sumi-e painting. In addition to watercolor, I enjoy working with acrylics, oils, and prints, enabling me to bring a broad perspective to both my artwork and instructions.
Growing up in the Midwest, I discovered my love of art through middle school, high school and college art classes. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong passion for creativity and visual expression. I began my professional career as a graphic designer before expanding into instructional design, technical writing, and marketing, where I developed expertise in visual design, content development, and usability standards.
Although my career centered on design and education, I never lost my passion for fine art. When COVID changed our lives, I returned to painting and drawing with a renewed dedication. I have since dedicated myself to hundreds of hours of studying, practicing and writing about art, color, design and composition. This ongoing journey continues to strengthen her technical skills while inspiring new creative explorations and a renewed passion for lifelong learning.
Today, I combine my experience as both an artist and educator to create resources that make art fun, approachable, and rewarding. Through Coloring Rainbows, I teach and write about color theory, design principles, composition, and various creative techniques. I publish regularly via my blog, publications, social media and YouTube demonstrations. I enjoy developing instructional guides that help artists build both knowledge and confidence through user-friendly techniques and creative play.
I believe that great art begins with curiosity, creative play, and a willingness to keep learning. My mission is to encourage you to embrace your creativity, understand the principles behind beautiful artwork, and discover the joy of creating—one brushstroke at a time.
